The Ottawa area is very fortunate to have excellent medical facilities.
Additionally, offices for the Putnam County Emergency Medical Services & Emergency Management Agency as well as the Putnam County Office of Public Safety are located within one mile of Ottawa.
St. Rita's Medical Center of Lima has an Ambulatory Care Center just west of Ottawa in Glandorf. This center offers 24 hour emergency care services daily. Outpatient services are offered 24 hours daily.
Air evacuation to major trauma centers is also available through "Life Flight" services, St. Rita's Medical Center of Lima, and St. Vincent's of Toledo, Ohio. These services can be in Ottawa within 10 to 20 minutes of take-off. A landing zone is maintained at the Ambulatory Care Center for safe arrival and departure of patients.
To compliment the team concept of medical care in Ottawa, there are two Emergency Medical Service units, both being equipped as Advanced Life Support units.
Well, it ticks all the boxes in termsThese are backed up by 12 other "ALS" and "BLS" units in neighboring communities. These local units are staffed by 22 dedicated volunteers, all EMT's certified by the state. This group consists of four paramedics, six advanced EMT's and 12 basic EMT's.
Also, there is a Mental Health Clinic, and Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center, a retirement living center (Tawa Manor), and three modern nursing homes in Ottawa.
Within 30 miles are six excellent hospitals. The two in Lima are 300 plus beds each. Putnam County is also serviced by hospitals in Bluffton, Defiance, Findlay and Van Wert. We are also within 60 miles of Toledo, which has a teaching hospital, a major burn center and two major trauma centers.
If medical care is needed, Ottawa is fortunate to be able to provide such fine service.
